How it works

It starts with a survey. It ends in an accusation.

Guilty Party is an in-person murder mystery for 5–10 friends, and every case is written from your group’s real answers — no boxed characters, no script to memorize. One friend hosts; everyone else plays from their phone. Here’s the whole night, start to finish.

Before you start

It all runs on two screens.

One host

The host console

One friend runs the night like a game-show host — setting up the game, sending invites, and driving every beat from a single screen. Prep is a few taps, not an afternoon of printing.

Everyone else

Your phone

Everyone else joins with a code. Your phone quietly holds your role, your alibi, and any clue you uncover — and you’re the only one who can see it.

Part one

Before the party.

Step 01 · The survey

Everyone spills.

Each guest answers a few quick questions about themselves — then a few about each other. Your job, your habits, the grudge you’d never say out loud. All of it becomes evidence.

Step 02 · The mystery

The game writes the crime.

Those answers get spun into one original murder mystery starring your actual friends: one guilty party, one secret accomplice, a few innocents set up to look very guilty, and a room full of people with no idea what’s coming.

Step 03 · The secret files

Nobody knows the same thing.

Everyone gets a private dossier — and no two hold the same cards.

  • The culprit knows everything.
  • The accomplice knows who did it.
  • The red herrings know only their own secret.
  • The innocents know nothing at all.

Part two

Party night.

Step 04 · The reveal

Learn who you are.

Each phone shows a face-down card. Tap it, and it flips — for your eyes only. Innocent bystander, shady accomplice, or the one who did it. Whatever it says, keep your face still.

Step 05 · The investigation

Investigate. Lie. Repeat.

Round by round, the group votes someone into the Hot Seat to sweat under questioning, while everyone else chases a private clue of their own. Real evidence, a dead end, or a plant — telling the truth about what you found is entirely optional.

Step 06 · The verdict

Accuse. Then find out.

When you’ve all had enough, everyone locks in who did it, how, and why. The game reveals what really happened, scores how close you got, and hands out awards for the sharpest detective and the most shameless liar.

Personalized by design

You are the characters.

There’s no rented-tuxedo cast. Every suspect is a heightened version of the real person who walked in, built from what your group actually said. Love golf? Expect a 9-iron at the scene.

Your job is a plot device.

Accountant? Knows exactly how to make the money vanish. Whatever you do all day, the mystery finds a use for it after dark.

Your quirks are evidence.

The pre-dawn runs nobody can vouch for. The harmless little habit that files perfectly under Motive.

Your inside jokes are canon.

The group chat’s running bits come back as clues, alibis, and accusations — weaponized, lovingly.
